Background Information
DRW Trading Group is a fast-growing proprietary trading organization based in Chicago. DRW primarily trades futures and options, both electronically and through the trading pits of different exchanges worldwide. DRW also has offices in New York and London and employs about 160 people worldwide.
The Challenge
DRW is growing very quickly and hires new employees every year. Before new employees begin trading, they go through an extensive training and educational program on Synthetic Options Theory taught by DRW traders. With offices in Chicago, New York, and London, DRW faces the challenge of maintaining a consistent, successful training program across three widespread locations. DRW decided it was imperative to somehow streamline the training across every office and to minimize the amount of time their traders would have to spend teaching new employees.
Artisan3's Solution
Artisan3 recommended a video tutorial to facilitate the general training and classroom instruction. Artisan3 needed to work closely with DRW's traders in order to gain a better understanding of what the videos should entail. Artisan3 project managers determined the best way to create the tutorial was not to tape an existing class but instead to adapt the class curriculum to the structure of an instructional video. To increase viewer attention and retention, the material needed to be as concise and clear as possible. Together with DRW, Artisan3 came up with an outline of each class and all supplemental materials necessary for the video, including slides and graphics. A DRW trader was the on-camera instructor for each of the five classes in the video tutorial.
Final Product
Artisan3 created a DVD with all five of classes easily accessible through a custom-designed menu and chapter system. Additionally, originally scored music, sound effects, and transitions were added to help increase the viewers' interest. Each class in the video tutorial lasted from 6 to 12 minutes. New employees now have access to the video tutorial at any time in each of DRW's three offices worldwide. Due to the proprietary and confidential information of the content of the video, Artisan3 is only allowed to play a short segment.
