Background Information
Holy Spirit Catholic Church is a new and growing parish in Northwest Indiana. The church has a beautiful worship center that was built only a few years ago in the thriving area of southern Lake County, Indiana.
The Challenge
Part of the church's mission is to welcome new parishioners and potential parishioners while encouraging them to participate in activities. As church membership had grown, volunteer staff could not keep up with the demand of new participants. The welcoming committee became strained because they would constantly repeat the same information to each new parishioner. Each person from the welcoming committee would present information in a different way to the parishioners, and there was no standard welcoming process.
Artisan3's Solution
After speaking with some of the staff at the church, an Artisan3 project manager saw that a video could help solve the church’s problems regarding welcoming new members. Representatives from Artisan3 met with the parish priest, as well as leaders within the parish. Then Artisan3 made a plan to portray the parish leaders in a video to give it a personalized, welcoming feel. Also, Artisan3 determined that the best way to achieve higher growth and participation in the parish would be for the video to elicit a strong emotional response from the viewer. In order to evoke an emotional response, the interviews on the video needed to be of a more personal nature and had to come from the heart. Passionate interviews combined with a moving soundtrack would hopefully establish a strong connection with the viewer and the parish.
Final Product
Production took place over four weeks, with shoots during mass and multiple ministries. The finished video came in at 12 minutes. After securing the synchronization rights to GIA Publications’ recording of David Haas's “Song of the Body of Christ," Artisan3 made the song the emotional centerpiece to the video. Complementing the song, Artisan3 composed a beautiful original soundtrack for the rest of the video. The combination of heartfelt interviews, moving music and narration, and breathtaking crane and dolly shots made the video a success. Even today, Artisan3 hears about new and existing parishioners tearing up while watching the video.
